Chiefs State They Are Aware of Domestic Violence Claims Connected to Player Rashee Rice

The NFL franchise issued a statement on Wednesday evening indicating they have knowledge of domestic violence allegations circulated in online accounts by a ex-partner of wide receiver the athlete and had been in communication with the league office.

The team did not mention Rice specifically in their announcement and stated they would have “nothing more to add at this time”.

The woman, who also did not mention Rice by name, shared a set of images on Instagram that appeared to show signs of physical abuse. She did say the individual in question was the parent of her kids, and it is known she has two children with Rice, whom the Chiefs selected in the second round.

Police Reports Reportedly Not on File

No police reports were on file in Overland Park, Kansas where the alleged abuse is said to have occurred.

Rice's Recent Off-Field Troubles

The receiver missed the first six games of this season following an NFL suspension for his involvement in causing a multi-vehicle accident on a Dallas highway that resulted in multiple people injured. Rice was sentenced 30 days in jail and probationary supervision after pleading guilty to serious offenses.

On the field, Rice finished the season with 53 catches for 571 receiving yards and five TDs as the Chiefs finished with a losing record and failed to qualify for the postseason for the first time in a ten-year span.
