The world's favorite pizza-loving superheroes are making their way to Magic: The Gathering. The popular TCG's publisher, the game's creators, revealed a much-awaited Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles collaboration at a special event hosted at NYCC. Could this be a radical new set or yet another crossover marketing move? Let you decide.
Take a look below at all the details revealed from the Magic x Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles collaboration, along with key context. All items listed here launches on March 6th, 2026, except for one item — a special Pizza Bundle arrives a couple of weeks after on March 27.
Before we get into all the various unique products and collections on offer, let’s take a look at the full lineup from the core Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles set that were revealed by the developers. Play boosters for the expansion are priced at $6.99 each, while Collector Boosters are priced at $37.99 per booster.
Let's unpack a few shell-shocking details. To begin, a new gameplay mechanic called Sneak Attack, which is a riff on the already established Ninjutsu ability, where gamers can cheat powerful creatures onto the battlefield when an attacking creature goes unblocked. The key change in this case is that Sneak can apply to spells that aren’t creatures as well. Wizards also used this chance to refine the mechanic a little (It counts as casting, unlike Ninjutsu). The original ability is staying, but it's more likely players will encounter Sneak in upcoming expansions from now on.
Should we were to return to Kamigawa, it’s possible we’d use the original ability since that's where it originated and it is iconic of that world,” a senior game designer stated. “But in other settings, because the mechanics are smoother and Sneak will be Standard-legal, it's more likely that we'd use the updated version.”
That second variant of the leader Turtle, Sewer Samurai, is one of four cards with unique artwork created exclusively for the expansion by Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles co-creator the co-creator.
Oh, and, should you be surprised by the rules text on Turtles Forever, which lets you play cards outside of your main deck, many players were. Yet according to Wizards, it’s now a legal card in all formats of Magic.
Anyway, below are the highly unusual land cards with full art from the TMNT set:
Following the company’s current policy, all these cards are all legal in Magic’s Standard format. Developers say they were careful to ensure the cards and mechanics meshed well with other Standard sets such as Edge of Eternities.
“I headed the design for over a year and we knew it was going to be Standard-legal and which sets were going to be near it in standard,” the designer says. “Our goal was to make sure that they work well with some of those sets including Edge of Eternities.”
For example, both TMNT and Edge of Eternities feature a blue-red strategy built around artifacts.
“They combine to provide the components for a fun Standard-legal deck,” the designer says.
Following a decision to create any Commander precons for Spider-Man and the upcoming Avatar: The Last Airbender collaborations, the company is reversing course with Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles. It’s only one precon, but it does come with six different legendary creatures that can serve as your commander based on how you pair them (five of the cards include a unique Partner mechanic named “Character Select” that allows starting with two commanders in the command zone instead of just one). Check them out below:
This Commander deck is set at $69.99, although the price may rise due to demand. Sources told that it contains 43 new cards in total, which means an additional thirty-seven TMNT-themed cards besides the six legendary commanders pictured earlier. (Doing some rough math, this suggests approximately 20 reprints if we assume the precon includes 37 land cards.)
How will the Turtles edition of Sol Ring appear? Fans must wait and see.
Typically, the company is selling a collection. This one costs $69.99 and contains the following:
This is a unique concept for the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles set, primarily because it comes in what looks like a pizza box. Every Pizza Bundle is priced at $99.99 and comes with the following:
For those curious about the “pizza bundle promo” is, it’s basically a reprinted older card featuring all-new Turtle-themed art. Wizards revealed an example for the well-known Magic card Dark Ritual featuring art of master Splinter sprinkling toppings on a pizza. There are six different pizza promos available.
The Pizza Bundle releases a couple of weeks later than the main set on March 27, 2026.
This special bundle is made for a four-person draft and costs $119.99. It includes:
Lastly, the developers are introducing a new concept with Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles as part of its ongoing effort to create Magic game products aimed at beginners. In this case, Turtle Team-Up is a special set of decks that allow two players team up against a “Boss” enemy deck that plays automatically.
The general idea here that every Boss card gives special abilities to the creatures contained in the boss deck. Each Boss automatically casts one other card each turn, and players begin battling {one Boss|
