The Boatyard Analysis – Skeezy Cannibalistic Terror Preys On Wealthy Youths on a Yacht Journey to Slaughter

Some horror films delve into profound fears, whereas some use the genre to address social concerns. There exist those that focus solely to entertain or provoke amusement. And then arrives ridiculous, cruel rubbish like this: a micro-budget imitation of cannibal-killer series the well-known film series, its weak follow-ups and comparable titles.

It even features an actor who appeared in original Hills film: Susan Lanier here plays Martha, a blowsy server who enjoys people meat. However, The Hills at least develop a certain origin tale for its mayhem; Martha and her seedy companions’ tastes are taken for granted, as though running into cannibals is simply one of the hazards of the boating life, like sharks or equipment failure.

The Victims for this Massacre

The targets in this carnage consist of five of mostly stupid youths in their twenties, who get together for a good time on the vessel belonging to affluent the host (the performer). Passengers include Chad’s permanently beach-ready companion another role (this performer), male friend a character (Jamal R Averett), and lesbian couple one character (this performer) and Jess (this talent).

Quantities of drugs are used, gallons of booze taken in and intimate moments initiated as previews for this production’s actual intention of enjoyment: putting the youths in the hands of the marked marina cannibals, who take them ashore when the yacht runs out of gas on the water.

A Pointless Exercise

Finally, this fails to be even close to bloody compared to that franchise during their most intense moments, however, one finds an element considerably more disheartening regarding The Boatyard’s lack of purpose, its absence of wit, understanding, or elementary directorial ability. The performances attains such a exquisitely balanced pitch of poor quality that they are difficult to sit through.

The Boatyard is available on digital platforms beginning the 22nd of September.
