Thomas Tuchel Expresses Disappointment Over Wembley Fan Atmosphere Despite Dominant Wales Victory.

The England head coach voiced his regret that the England team did not get more backing from the home crowd during their impressive triumph over Wales on Thursday night.

Tuchel was happy to see his squad maintain their good form, with goals from Rogers, Watkins, and Bukayo Saka inside the first 20 minutes settling the game. But, he was not content with the mood at the iconic venue.

“With one and a half sessions to get ready against a well-trained team and we performed excellently,” Tuchel remarked. “We could have been five goals ahead at half-time. We missed the fourth and fifth goals. The stadium was silent. We didn’t get any energy back from the stands. We did everything to win.”

“How much more can you deliver in 20 minutes? We prevented them escape. When you only hear just Wales fans for half an hour, it’s sad because the team deserved more support today.”

“I stand by my words. There’s nothing more than being 3-0 in a derby. I would have wished for a greater backing in phases where it is challenging.”

“In the second half, to support us, there was a bit too much support for Wales. It could have helped us to refocus, but that’s the way it went and that is it.”

Selection Choices Justified by Display

Away from potentially starting a fight with supporters, Tuchel also created controversy by leaving out Jude Bellingham and Foden from his squad. However the move was backed up by Morgan Rogers impressing again in the attacking midfield role and scoring his first international goal.

“That’s his style,” the head coach noted. “He is a No 10 and he is competing for his place.”

Wales Manager Seeks Lessons from Defeat

Craig Bellamy expressed hope that Wales, who host Belgium in a crucial World Cup qualifier on next week, take lessons from their disappointing performance in the opening period.

“This is why I wanted this game,” the manager said. “I wanted to assess where we are. What are our ambitions? Who do we want to be? This performance fills me with drive.”

Injury Concern for Watkins

Ollie Watkins was withdrawn at the break after clattering into a post and is a concern when the national team face their next opponents in the Latvian capital in a qualifier on Tuesday.
