Trump Organization Attempted to Hire Nearly 200 Employees on Visas in 2025

The former president’s corporate entity accelerated its hiring of foreign workers on temporary visas this year, even as his government was placing obstacles for other companies wanting to do the same, an analysis released recently stated.

Based on information from the US Department of Labor, the Trump Organization sought to hire at least nearly 200 overseas employees in 2025 for temporary positions at the former president’s Mar-a-Lago resort, golf facilities and his Virginia winery.

The quantity of requests for H-2A and H-2B visas for workers including waitstaff, clerks, housekeepers, culinary employees and agricultural laborers was the record filed by the company, and increased from 121 in the previous term, when his presidency concluded.

It was also the fifth instance in a decade that the former president had attempted to hire over a hundred overseas workers for temporary positions at Mar-a-Lago, according to labor statistics.

The disclosure comes amid a crackdown on legal immigration by his administration that has included the implementation of a $100,000 fee on H1-B visas; increased review of the activities of the 55 million people who possess US visas; and tighter regulations for international scholars and journalists.

In total, the business sought to employ 566 overseas workers over the period the former president has been in the White House, from 2017 to 2021 and during 2025.

Notably, Trump was criticized by certain in the GOP this period for comments justifying the need for foreign workers when a business was unable to find people with “particular skills” to fill particular roles.

“You cannot just say a country is entering, going to spend $10bn to build a plant, and going to take people off an jobless roster who have been unemployed in years, and they’re going to start producing their defense systems. It doesn’t work that effectively,” he told a interviewer after it was implied that foreign workers undercut the wages of American employees.

The White House declined a request for response, and the Trump Organization did not provide an answer to an inquiry.
